The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership

I’m currently training the Leaders at Jesus House Elkridge on The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership, a book by my mentor and friend, John C. Maxwell.

If you are a leader or you aspire to develop your leadership skills, I will encourage you to buy and study (not only read) this book. The leadership laws Dr. Maxwell discussed in the book is universal and it works either you are leading yourself, a family, a church, an organization, a company, a local government, or a nation.

An interpreter in Korea was working with a very famous, but rigid Bible teacher who began his sermon like this: "The theological implications of this text are, to say the least, filled with the deepest and most profound significance."

"He hasn't really said anything worthwhile yet," the interpreter conveyed to the audience, "but when he does I will let you know."

faith sign

What is faith?

  • Faith is the substance (realization) of things hoped for, the evidence (assurance) of things not seen (Heb. 11:1).

  • Faith is the most potent force in the universe because it confers divinity on humanity because all things are possible to the person that believes (Mark 9:23).

job satisfaction

If you are like most people who love to plan their year ahead, you know the final quarter of the year is a good time to be thankful for what you’ve accomplished so far, review tasks that need to be completed before the year ends, and plan for the next year in advance. Either you are looking for work, planning a career change, or not very happy with your current job, there is nothing more fulfilling than to be doing what you love and love what you are doing.

According to a 2011 survey conducted by Mercer, an HR consulting company, 32% of Americans indicated they wanted to leave their job.

celebration

This is the last step of my series on Seed,Time, and Harvest: How to reap the best in life. In previous steps, you've cultivated and prepared the ground (of your mind), you've planted good seeds (thoughts), you've nurtured, cared for and protected the seeds, and you've waited patiently for the seeds to grow, mature, and bear good fruits. The next and final step is to celebrate because it's harvest time. Before you read further, I will encourage you to review the previous steps so you know how we got here.

After they've been rejected by and ejected from their community because of their disability, they must choose whether to go back and die at home, die homeless where they are, or explore what is in their future -- though it is the most dangerous thing to do.

Their faith will challenge you, their story will inspire you, and their courage will encourage you never to die -- sitting idly on the same spot in life because nothing is worse than doing nothing.

watering garden

In my first article , I mentioned that it is very important to prepare the ground if you want to reap the best in life. The ground represent your mind and you must do everything to guard your mind above all else because it determines the course of your life. After the ground is prepared, the next step (number 2) is to get some good seeds. The health of your seeds will determine the health of your harvest. Now that you've prepared the ground and gotten some good seeds, the next step (number 3) is to nurture and care for the plant.

The 2 of us believed it will.

I had a great time speaking to the Youth Group at the Life Source Church two Sundays ago. Although I was very tired: came back home 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning from attending John Maxwell’s “A Day about Books” event in West Palm Beach, Florida but it was worth getting up after few hours of sleep to be with these young people and help them on life issues, success, and the future. They came eager to learn. Our topic was “Seed, Time, and Harvest: How to Reap the Best in Life.” The message was so engaging; they desired a good harvest in life, and I love them so much because they were open, honest, and very practical.

It was a joy to hear my 5-year old Debby read a portion of my book during our Morning Prayer time. We read page 38 of Don’t Die Sitting where we learned to Hear Positive and Speak Positive. It takes great faith to sleep in a stormy situation and you can acquire that faith by constantly reading and hearing the word of God.

Don't Die Sitting - Book Cover

So many talented, educated, and gifted people are stuck in life because they are afraid to step out and show the world what they are made of. But to succeed in life, you've got to face your fear and take necessary actions.

After they've been condemned as social misfits and rendered homeless, they have to decide if they should go back to the city that expelled them, maintain their homeless status until they die, or face the future in spite of its unforeseen dangers. Their faith will challenge you. Their courage will fire you up. Their story will inspire you.
